it’s a cruel world, sometimes.
why do you look out that way child,
as if the stars are now fixed,
as if seasons never change.
no feeling is final,
no moment.
and you have much to conquer,
you have trials to face.
the crusades,
the campaign,
the want like nothing else.
and until you have it,
all you wish,
all that’s impossible-
be patient,
endure.
be temperance,
and madness -
be raging multitudes
you half blind bastard.
but do not let go
of the sunrise in your gaze
you will see it set in time.
feel deeply but feel lightly,
I hear creation is heavy on the foot.
now, look at the billion perplexing wonders
in a blade of grass.
my child, it’s marvellous.
the nights roar and flame above you.
bathe in it.
under the whirling.
under the monstrosity.
under the magnificently wild sky
raining flame and thunder
on you.
that must be enough
for one more tomorrow.
